  • Institute of Mineralogy, Clausthal University of Technology (research and teaching, 1984-1989), Centre for Raw Material Related Marine Research; Participation in several research cruises with RV Sonne focussed on Co-rich ferromanganese crusts as well as hydrothermal vent fields with associated massive sulphide deposits
  • PhD in 1991 on the geochemistry of Upper Cretaceous sedimentary siderites and apatites of Amberg area, Bavaria, Germany
